THE PROCESS
The process of producing Silver Needles white tea is both simple and intricate, deeply connected to the quality of its ingredients, the surrounding climate, and the unpredictable nature of weather. The delicate leaves must be plucked when the skies are clear, with no rain for 2 to 3 days prior, as even a light shower can wash away the tea’s rich and nuanced flavors. The leaves are then naturally sun-dried, and the best conditions for this drying process are sunny days accompanied by gentle winds.
The harvest of Silver Needles takes place twice a year, specifically in the spring and fall, when the tea buds are at their peak size and quality, bursting with flavor. We refrain from harvesting during the summer months, as the leaves do not attain the same level of taste and refinement.
When it comes to harvesting, the method varies depending on the type of tea. For plucking a bud with two leaves, an experienced picker can gather an impressive average of 30 to 40 kilograms of tea each day. However, Silver Needles tea is crafted from the finest single buds, and as such, the yield is more modest—typically ranging from just one to two kilograms of fresh tea, each carefully selected for its pristine quality. Each bud represents the essence of nature's bounty and the art of fine tea-making.
